Product Usage:
Using optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) measurement fiber, sometimes encounter situations very short fiber optic link. When measuring short fiber links often get large attenuation value (xxdB / km). The attenuation index can not get a good evaluation and assessment. Why is this? What method can obtain a better test result?
Since the optical fiber link is short (generally less than 20km), OTDR measured curve has some volatility, these tiny fluctuations iuence the final numerical calculation. OTDR described in the technical parameters, there are indicators of a linear degree, the general OTDR this indicator is 0.05dB / dB (E6000C: 0.05dB / dB; N3900A: 0.03dB / dB), in fact, this indicator is described OTDR fluctuation range of the curve.
